Week 11 – Artist – Choice [ Pablo Ruiz Picasso & Leonardo de Vinci ]

 Pablo Ruiz Picasso was a Spanish painter. He was the most famous artist of all time. He was also a sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist and theatre designer. Picasso's works is often categorized into periods : Blue Period ( 1907-1909), Rose Period ( 1904-1906), the African-influenced period ( 1907-1909), Analytic Cubism ( 1909-1912), ad the Synthetic Cubism (1912-1919), also referred to as the Crystal period. The majority of his work of the late 191s and early 1920s is in a neoclassical style, and his work in the mid-1920s often has characteristics of Surrealism. 
Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci was an Italian polymath, having been a scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, painter, sculptor, architect, botanist, musician and writer. He was described as the archetype of "Renaissance man", a man whose seemingly infinite curiosity was equally only by his powers of invention. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest painters of all time and perhaps the most diversely talented person ever to have lived. Two of his famous works all time were Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. 
What are the differences between the two artist's works? 
- I noticed that Picasso's paintings were using one color as the main focus on the whole picture accordingly to different period. As Blue period, he used blue color as the main painting. As in Rose period, he used Rose as the main color. All his works carry the meaning or stories behind, giving the audience the feelings for the person, or the event that he demonstrated through his painting. The style Picasso follow was more like a modern painting style, while Leonardo's painting was from the older style. Leonardo's works focus mainly on portrait and landscape. His painting and drawing was more detail describing the characteristic of the object or event. 
Which one I prefer ?
- I would prefer Leonardo's painting. However, It does not mean I don't like Picasso's works, I love them both. But I just prefer Leonardo because of his detail painting and more real human portraying. The famous of his work was Mona Lisa which is very realistic and vivid picture. The other work that impressed me was "The Battle of Anghiari", which is amazingly describing the war and the battle, including not only human fighting each other but the horse and smokes from the flights.
